I rebuild and
renovate microscopes as a hobby, and
when they are back in good operating condition, most are sold so
that I can afford parts for the next restoration. The fine designs,
construction, and optical quality in these older name-brand
microscopes are generally better than anything you can buy new
in their price range. Most new microscopes that sell for less
than around $800 are cheap plastic models from unidentified
factories in China, and marketed by western companies that did
not make them and will not provide support for the repair
problems you are likely to have. You will not see generic,
unknown-brand, and
toy microscopes in my store -- I'm not interested in them. My
high-quality instruments were made between 1960 and 1990 by the
best optical companies, and they are a real pleasure to own and use.
There are usually 15 to 20 microscope projects in various stages
of completion scattered around my shop -- I am like a kid
in his own candy store.
Because my overhead costs are low and profit is small, prices
are usually well below what a professional dealer might charge
for a similar instrument. As far as possible, renovated
microscopes have all original or replacement parts of the
correct brand and model. If available, I will include a copy of
the original instruction manual. My microscopes have all been
used and they show it to various degrees, but I will warrant
that when they leave my shop, my microscopes are clean, properly
adjusted, ready to use, and complete as described. If for any
reason you are not happy with it,
contact me within 7 days of
receipt, return it in the same good condition, and I will refund
your purchase price (not shipping).
The microscope inventory changes
frequently, so please check with us for availability. Click on
the image for a larger version and click on the eBay link for
the description. You are welcome to purchase it through eBay, or
I can sell it to you directly, just
ask Greg.
Prices are in US dollars -- inquire for a price in your
currency. Scroll down for more information.
The microscopes on this page have
now all been sold, but they represent a typical selection of
what I have in my shop. To see my current
microscopes for sale,
please check out
our eBay store, which has
other items as well. If you are looking for something in
particular, let me know -- I have a large collection of parts and
projects that changes frequently. |

Payment: PayPal is the best
method of payment and it allows you to use a credit card, safe
for both of us and free for you. You can use
contact@earth2geologists.net
for the payment. Or you can pay with a US Postal money order,
the international version. Cash is OK only if you come in person
to buy it. No checks, no Western Union, no bank transfers. At
this time I do not need to charge a sales tax. but shipments
outside of Canada might be assessed an additional customs or
duty fee upon arrival.
Shipping is normally by Canada Post Expedited Parcel.
Microscopes get packed into large heavy boxes, thus are
expensive for mail -- extremely so for overseas addresses. As always, you can
pick it up in person for free. If you do that I will give you a
free copy of my geology guide to Grand Manan (and worth some
time to visit our wonderful island). |
